I have just spent most of my day sprucing up the community. I have made a new layout, moved up to S2 so that we can use tags, and I have tagged all of the posts. You can view
the tag page here.
I would love this community to get going again. I think there’s enough of us still on here to make it interesting.
Since I have introduced the tags, and done them in (what seems to me, at least) a sensible way, I think we need some guidelines (much friendlier than rules, yes?) about how to use the tags here to make them user-friendly. And while we’re at it, new guidelines about everything. There seems to be a lot of pimping of the same communities on here, so here we go…
Tags:When joining and just making a non-icon post, use the tag “i just joined...”
When posting batches of icons, do not simply title them “icons”, use the ones that are already there – or use your own discretion as to what is sensible.
Challenge Icons – icons: challenge entries
Non-Challenge Icons – icons: non-challenge
Actor Icons – icons: actors
If you’re posting batches of icons that link to your icon journal and you have just selected the very best, make sure that at least two are Ducks-related and use the tag “multi-post” as well as any others that are appropriate.
If you’re posting batches of icons with the same theme, such as “my fandom…” or “my anti-drug” then tag with “icons: my fandom...” or “icons: my anti-drug”
The general theme with the tags is “
icon: whatever you want here” (the word “icon” then a colon then a space, then your word).
Don’t use lots of tags that mean nothing. You may find it hilarious to tag something “bobs super-duper iconzzzzz!!!” but it will just piss me off, and you really don’t want that.
Additionally, feel free to also tag your work “user: your user name” so that if someone likes your work, they can hit your tag and see what else you’ve done.
If you change your username let a mod know (probably me, since I have no idea what’s happened to Quimby or Charisma, and have kind of lost touch with spazzychick) and
keep tagging your entries as your old username until you hear back from a mod, that way, we can just change the tag relating to your old username. It’s much less admin work for everyone.
If in doubt, have a look at
the tag page and see what’s already used. You might find something suitable, if not, you’ll see the general idea of how I have tagged so far.
Community/RPG PimpingThis is all fine and well. However, when I was tagging, it did seem that there were a large amount of posts relating to just one particular community (which now looks almost as dead as this one). Let’s have a rule that you can make
just one post about your community. However, you can mention it in comments, if you feel it’s appropriate. This does not mean you can spam posts just to drop it in to conversation.
Contests/ChallengesI’d love to get this up and running again. Would there be any interest?
